It is unfortunate that the drug lords happen to be the financiers of terror organizations in the region. It is however evident that the continued support of the American`s war on terror has resulted to a dangerous internal wrangles between the terrors gungs who also happens to be drug lords in the region. There is much division in the land as forces aligned to the U.S seeks to overpower the Taliban and drug lords who for a long time have maintained control on heroin cultivation. And with the militias and tribal factions support, Afghanistan`s opium crop continues to be the largest ever. Although both the local and international communities are against this drug spree in the region, an alternative source of income needs to be established. And although the problem is acknowledged as an Asian issue, Afghanistan still remains to be the leading drugs producer in the region.
