• To critically analyse current educational policy in relation to ideology and social justice
• To facilitate conception of the future educational model 
• To underpin understanding of educational present and futures with social theory •         To explore alternative models of education

Main Topics of Study: these will vary from year to year, due to the topical nature of the module.

• The neo-liberal agenda in education
• Education and social mobility
• Race and education
• Religion, identity and education
• Gender and education
