Pain Management Presentation - Evidence based notes (2000 Words) 50% of the overall module assessment

• You must use the `Presentation Notes Template` to write your evidence-based notes • Students should use 2000 (+10%) words to complete the assessment. • All words included in the text of the assessment are considered part of the word count – this includes number and references (words and dates) within the text. • Reference lists and appendices are not included as part of the word count. • Your reference list for all parts of the presentation should be listed at the end following UWS guidance and in alphabetical order UWS Reference Guidelines • Should be written in the 3rd person. • You must provide evidence-based references for all statements of fact you present in the text of the assessment. • Font should be Arial or Times New Roman and 12 size. • The standardised Front Cover must be used and compliance with the file naming convention adhered to. • Submitted via Turnitin link

Appendix 2 - Suggested Structure - Pain Management Presentation - Evidence based notes (2000 Words) Part 1 – Introduction to Pain Management 10% Approximately 200 words, supported with current and relevant evidence whilst adhering to UWS referencing guidance. Suggested structure you could include: -
• Definition of Pain • Types of Pain • Discuss what is meant by Total Pain
Part 2 – Discuss the role of the Multidisciplinary team involved in Pain Management 15% Approximately 300 words, supported with current and relevant evidence whilst adhering to UWS referencing guidance. Suggested structure you could include: -
• From diagnosis and assessment of pain, through pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies to manage pain, who is involved in providing care to a patient in pain and what is their role.

Part 3 – Critically analyse pain management care using evidence based guidelines

Part 3a) Critically analyse Pain assessment strategies 25% Approximately 500 words, supported with current and relevant evidence whilst adhering to UWS referencing guidance. Suggested structure you could include: -
• Difference pain assessment tools and strategies related to different types of pain and individual person centred care.
Part 3b) Critically analyse Pharmacological pain management strategies 25% Approximately 500 words, supported with current and relevant evidence whilst adhering to UWS referencing guidance. Suggested structure you could include: -
• WHO Pain Ladder • Medication – analgesics / adjuvants • Routes / Interventional
Part 3c) Critically analyse Non-Pharmacological pain management strategies 25% Approximately 500 words, supported with current and relevant evidence whilst adhering to UWS referencing guidance. Suggested structure you could include: -
• Supported Self-Management • Physical • Psychologically based interventions • Complementary therapies
