On arrival in Love Field Airport, the President`s motorcade was ready for the Dallas trip that was scheduled to give him utmost exposure to the enthusiastic crowds. He was accompanied by his wife Jacqueline, the Vice-President Lyndon Johnson, Governor John Connally and his wife Nellie Connally. During the procession, a sniper fired shots at the president, two bullets hitting him, one in the head and one in the neck (Bugliosi). The president was taken to The Parkland Hospital where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room. Lee Harvey Oswald was charged with killing him.
