1. Discuss what is meant by ‘ethics’ and give three brief examples of different ethical views.
2. Choose one of two ethical dilemmas in professional practice.
3. Identify the key issues surrounding the dilemma
4. Discuss legislation and policies relevant to the dilemma
5. Compare and evaluate different views on the chosen dilemma (e.g. consider it from a Kantian, utilitarian and egoist perspective – as well as simply addressing the different viewpoints).
6. Come to a conclusion: What is the ethical thing to do? (the ethical thing might even be slightly different from what is legally correct!)
