Name: Instructor: Course: Date: Discipline and Child Abuse Many people have tried to find the distinct difference between discipline and child abuse, and the truth is they are really very different. Discipline is the means of instructing a specific code of conduct. And in the development of a child, discipline means the methods of modeling character and teaching a behavior that is accepted and self controlled (Nakpodia 144). On the other hand, child abuse is the physical, emotional or sexual mistreatment of children (Newberger). Many fail to see the difference, but it is a fact that discipline is allowed, but over doing it will make it to be child abuse, something that is not allowed (Gottfredson). To other individuals, discipline is a form of correcting a behavior or a kind of punishment usually used by parents to manage the characters of their children. It should be a responsibility of parents to discipline their children and equip them with the best behavior possible. It is also their responsibility to know the best ways of disciplining their children.
