Task Description:

This assessment requires you to provide an analytical synthesis of your reflection on how your views, knowledge and understanding of the National Safety and Quality Health Standards and their relevance to health care provision has changed and/or developed following your Specialised Care clinical experience. 

You are required to select two National Safety and Quality Health Standards you applied/encountered in your clinical practice experience and write a reflection based on each standard. 

This assessment has four key parts that you are required to address. It is essential that you incorporate evidence based literature and research to support your work:

1. An introduction
2. Reflection One
3. Reflection Two
4. A conclusion

Within each reflection you need to cover the following criteria:

1. Analysis of the Quality and Safety Standard related to the clinical setting.
2. Analysis of the aims and objectives of the selected Quality and Safety Standard in the clinical setting.
3. Demonstrate reflection and reflexivity: form, present and support own opinions.

5. Presented in a scholarly format following APA 6th edition: Recommend Arial, size 11 font, indented paragraphs, 1.5 spacing, APA referencing. Pages numbered. Use headings in the body of your paper.

Rationale:

The analytical reflective essay provides an authentic task to extend and present academic enquiry related to the National Safety and Quality Health Standards.  This authentic reflection activity is designed to further develop a student`s engagement with information processing and thinking skills and to synthesise ideas as a result of their engagement with the subject content.  The reflection is an opportunity to complete the learning cycle of investigation of the concepts and practices related to the Standards that guide care provision.

A brief overview of the need for the Quality and Safety Standard relevant to the clinical setting. Analyse this standard in terms of patient safety in the Specialised Care Setting. Consider the details of the standard.

1. 3.       Analyse the aims and objectives of the Standard in terms of care delivery (approx. 800 words)

Analyse the major aims and objectives of the selected Quality and Safety Standard in the clinical setting. How were the aims and objective of the standard `observable` during the practice experience? Can you suggest how these Standard aims need to be adopted in the setting?

1. 4.    Reflection and reflexivity: You are able to form, present and support your own opinions. Evaluate the outcomes of your clinical experience. Explain how this experience is likely to impact upon your future nursing practices (approx. 1200 words)
